Sound,Sound,Sound.
We bought this system a good few months ago now and have tested it musically from a wide range of genres, as our music collection runs from J.S. Bach to Black Sabbath (and all points in between) and We have literally not found it wanting in any shape or form, wither it be the cow bell in Black Sabbath`s track Tomorrows Dream to the superb bass in Peter Gabriel`s Salisbury Hill (live) I could go on and on, this system belies it`s size as to the sublime sound that come out of it (equal to systems a lot larger) We are so happy with the Roark R4 Mk3 wish we had it a long time before, Thank you all at Roark for producing a listening pleasure.

Crisp clear sound and beautifully designed
I’ve been using the R4 Mk3 for about 3 months now and its perfect for my needs. Excellent crisp sound that handles clarity and bass. Powerful enough to fill your room with sound. Really nice to swap from cd playing to bluetooth device in an instance. Bluetooth works really well with Apple devices. Lots of inputs and outputs on front and back, all discreetly positioned so you don’t notice them. Not a big radio user myself but the digital radio reception seems good to me. Its a nice weighty unit positioned on two bars so the woofer speaker can sit underneath. This is a nice touch to the design together with the dial on top and a small remote control.

Wonderful sound
We purchased this in January with some Christmas gift money to replace a quality, but old, hifi system. We had some doubts about the sound quality from such a small unit, but the R4 Mk3 soon allayed our qualms. The sound quality is amazing, it has some great features & it looks fab (we bought the black version). We’re delighted with it, & the extra space we’ve gained now the speakers, amp, wires etc have gone is a bonus!
We’d definitely recommend this & would look at Ruark first should we need any other sound products.

Fantastic for a compact unit
I was going to buy a Bose Wave but when the R4 was demonstrated to me and it's features such as streaming and a CD player which was a must for me were pointed out I opted to purchase one instead, I have not been disappointed, it has a good rich sound quality, is stylish, compact and has everything I need, one slight downside is the DAB radio reception was very poor and I had to buy a remote antenna to find a good enough signal, but that's probably down to the reception in my area than the R4 itself.

Best sound I ever heard
I have damaged hearing, due to 15 years around military jet engines, so wear twin hearing aids, I had hot used to poor sound even with the hearing aids, but everything is so clear and precise I am now hearing music properly fir the first time in many years. And so easy to use.

The ideal system for a confined space.
I know someone with an older version of the Ruark and have always been impressed with it.
I've had a variety of systems in the past and each has involved hiding wiring under carpets! The beauty of the Ruark R4 Mk3 is that you just have to plug it in! There are no additional 'bits'. The sound quality is equal to any of the previous units I have used and now that Bluetooth is standard, this seems to be the 'no-brainer' solution to my hi-fi requirements.

Just what I hoped for!
Lovely device - replaces previous hi-fi / radio / soundbar / CD player etc.
Would be 5* if:
* remote was better quality, and included more functions (ie duplicated control on top of the unit
* unit included internet radio. Not convinced by Ruark's description that the decision not to include internet was a rational one, when every other device they sell seems to include it. However, bluetooth allows for internet streaming, so not the most major of problems.
* could play FLAC files
* better browser for USB sticks

Low volume excellence
I have a couple of Bose units that I have had for many years and have never had any complaints about the sound. I think my ears just got lazy. I heard a Ruark unit at a friend's house and was captivated by the richness of the sound. Having now bought one the biggest surprise was the amazing clarity and fullness of the sound at low volume. Even turned down the accuracy of the delineation between instruments with both jazz and classical small ensembles is very impressive. This straight out of the box - I haven't fine-tuned the sound at all.
The controls are a model of simplicity and good design. The remote similarly easy to use and well designed.
The unit itself is very substantial and looks terrific. I bought the walnut colour which fits easily into our living room.
